Decimal to Binary and Binary to Decimal conversions were our first unit of the school year. We learned effective and simple methods of converting them.
Converting from Binary to Decimal numbers looked like this. Whenever there was a 0, we crossed it out along with the number above it. Then we add all the numbers above the 1s to get the Decimal number.
Decimal to Binary
To convert Decimal numbers to Binary numbers, just start off by dividing by 2. If you have a remainder, record it. If you don't have a remainder record a 0. Furthermore, keep on dividing by two and record any remainders until you cannot divide anymore. Finally, use the rainbow method to realign the remainders horizontally from bottom to top.
These are the conversion tables. You can figure out how to convert binary numbers to octal and hexadecimal numbers. To convert to the octal system, underline every three digits in the binary number from right to left. Then use the tables. For hexadecimals, it's the same thing but with four digits and you have letters when converted.
